Remember this...

“Make a list. Cross it off.

Build a fort.

Read a magazine.

Turn off the tv.

Make some coffee.

Smell the flowers.

Take a day off. Take two days off. Take a week off.

Go outside.

Buy a plane ticket. Leave the country.

Fall in love.

Wear something new. Wear nothing.

Camp a mountain.

Swim with the fish.

Paint a picture. Paint yourself.

Listen to new music. Listen to old music. Play music.

Take a walk.

Make a new friend. Reconnect with old friends.

Write people letters. Send the letters. Tell the truth.

Grow your own fruit.

Look at the stars.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Now, remember this moment.”

I need Pizza

So, you want American hot Pizza for supper when you get in and your miles away from a Pizza Express,
or even a Pizza hut !

What do you do?

Here goes,

First you call your sweet man, other half, cintaku, or what ever you happen to call him.

Ask him if he could stop playing with Charlie (our dog) for a minute, and do you a favour.

He says, of course my sweetheart, what can I do for you?

Well cintaku, could you please find the small Tupperware container in the kitchen and start some bread dough for me?

Ok, honey, what should I do, He asks,

Did you find it?

No babe, you know where it is?

Yes cintaku, it in the bottom of the green cupboard in the kitchen,

Ok babe, I’ll find it, wait a minute, yes I have it.

Does it have the lid babe?

Yes my love, what next?

Can you put I large teaspoon of dried yeast in please,

Ok, I try to find it,

Where is it babe?

In a big jar on the second shelf down,

Ah ok babe, I found it,

How Much,

One large teaspoonful,

Ok, I did that, what else?

Thanks babe, now put a small half-teaspoon of sugar in, gula babe,

O.K. mr cintaku, I did that too, what else,

Put in two of the scoops of flour no please,

Ok, wait a minute, just doing that, ok now what?

Ok babe, now can you put in 1 mug of warm water, not hot and not cold, the hot will kill the yeast and the cold won’t work.

Ok babe, wait a minute,

You ok babe?

Yes I’m just waiting for the water to get hot, ready now,

Ok, can you put your finger in the water to check it not too hot,

(Iyan always has very clean fingers, he’s just that type of guy)

Yes babe, its fine,

Good, now pour it in and mix it all together,

Ok babe, doing that now,

Thanks babe,

What next?

Great babe, Can you put the lid on and burp it?

What Babe?

Put the lid on then press your hand down the middle and let the air out,

Oh, ok Babe, done it.

Thanks babe, can you just leave it on the side now for me,

Where babe,

On the biscuit tin is fine,

Ok, no problem,

Thanks babe, enjoy your day,

And you cintaku, bye,

Bye babe.

Then on the way home, after your massage at Spa Hati.

Pop to the super market and you buy,

A handful of minced beef,

A small can of tomato puree,

Some mushrooms,

A small green pepper,

Some cheese, your fave,

And maybe a beer or two,

(You know you already have onions, garlic, basil, thyme, olive oil, chillies, and bacon at home)

Then, when you get home to your loving sweet man and dog,

You take a look at what’s grown in the Tupperware,

Needs More flour, add some quick and stir really quickly, keep adding flour till it looks a little like bread dough, put the lid back on and pop on above the oven. Turn on the oven on low, and wait for your bread to grow.

Check your emails, ask cintku about his day, and cuddle your Charlie, tell him he’s the best dog ever, but would he mind leaving the kitchen now, he doesn’t of course, just looks at you, and keeps on following you around.

Now,

In the choppywizzer thing, you put, the tomato paste, some basil leaves, a bit of dried thyme, some olive oil, salt and black pepper, and a large knob of butter, (you always have butter in the fridge) then wizzz till smooth.

Next, chop your onions, garlic, chillies and bacon,

Pop in a pan and lightly cook in some olive oil,

Then add the beef, keep cooking for another 3 minutes till slightly brown,

Turn off heat and leave to cool.

Chop the mushrooms, about 3, and half the green pepper.

Then grate some cheese, cheddar Edam or mozzarella is good, but whatever you like is fine.

Thank Charlie for his help, and ask him to leave the kitchen again.

Grease a baking tray with some olive oil and flour as well.

How check again what’s happening in the Tupperware?

Looks like it needs more flour, add some and stir quickly again, then turn out onto the baking try and spread out evenly, making as flat as possible. Pop the try back on top of the oven, and turn the oven up to 200 °c

When its nice and puffy, pop it into the oven for 10 mins,

Take out and eave to cool for 5 mins,

Then spread with the tomato paste mix,

Sprinkle on your ground beef mix, mushrooms, green pepper and cheese.

Cover with ground black pepper, if you like that sort of thing (we do)

Pop in the oven, which is now nice and hot, and bake for about 20 minutes, or about when it looks nice and slightly crispy and good to eat.

Take out of oven and leave for 5 minutes before serving, as you don’t want to burn you mouth do you.

EAT.

Enjoy.

Tell Charlie No, but he might get some later if he’s lucky and a good boy.

Be a Winner

So, Is it really worth entering competitions to win a few small prizes?

If you want to sit at home and earn some extra cash simply by filling in some forms? If it sounds appealing then maybe you should read this piece in The Telegraph by Rosie Murray-West.

Apparently, people are making 'a small but steady living' by entering competitions, winning goods, and then selling them, presumably through eBay.

Considering how many thousands of competitions there are, this certainly seems possible. Most of these competitions can't have all that many entrants, which means if you're good at targeting competitions with fewer competitors, you're more likely to have a possible win.

All the relevant information you may need is here

I was all prepared to do a lot of intensive research for this article, but it seems many people are years ahead of me on this one. All the work has already been done and you can find all the information you need to give 'comping' your best shot using the Internet.

The Telegraph article I mentioned earlier is a good starting point, as it has all the background information, and some tips on improving your chances and on which competitions to enter.

Next, I'd read the guide to winning at Loquax.co.uk. There are further general tips at Prize-Competitions.com.

Looking at the maths side of things, Winning Competitions explains quite well why it may be best to avoid the major promotions. There are also two pages with original tips on Comper.co.uk, one about doing your research and the other about making multiple entries.

Where to find competitions

There are several websites which list competitions. Type 'enter competitions' into Yahoo!. I looked at about 30 of these. Many of them are very similar, but I liked Prize-Competitions.com and Loquax.co.uk, for a large part because they seem lower profile and therefore you might have a better chance of winning some of the competitions they list.

A sudden change ?

Help! something just changed in my life, Big time !

Different people cope with change in different ways.

For many of us change comes knocking on our door when we feel comfortable in our lives. Often we feel defensive and see the change as threatening our feelings of security.

Some people are better at coping with and even embracing change. Some people see the smallest change as a big inconvenience and an even bigger drama. Others take it in their stride and adapt to the new situation so quickly and quietly it is amazing.

How do you respond when change comes to visit you? If we changed our viewpoint from being fearful and worried about new things happening in our lives we would be able to accept change more.

What if we welcomed change and looked forward to all the new things that were coming? What if we trusted that whatever changes taking place, were for our highest good? And what if we built up our emotional strength so nothing ever fazed us?

Being able to cope with change easily and readily is a trait of successful people who are happy with their lives. Resisting and fighting change is a trait of those who are unable to move forward in their lives gracefully.

If you would like to be able to welcome change there are a couple of things you can do...

Ask yourself if you like to have control over everything?

If so it will be harder for you to accept unplanned change that you do not approve of.

Are you flexible?

Are you willing to accept things may happen that are better than you could have hoped for?

If this describes you it is time to practice surrendering to change. Take small steps to increase your flexibility and acceptance. Let other people make decisions without having to have the final word.

Adopt a new belief that there are many different paths to get to the same outcome. You may not know what these paths are - but if you close your mind you will never find out.

It is certainly much easier to ride with the current than to fight it. The next time change comes knocking on your door do your best to allow the changes to take place. No matter what they are.

Do not argue with them or fight them.

Do your best to accept change willingly and place your trust in the changes.

Sometimes you just have to jump in and swim for it, but hopefully you may end up somewhere a little better for the experience.
